When you specify an industrial pH controller for wastewater, start with the complete measuring loop. The controller, pH sensor, pH probe, temperature input and installation must represent the process and connect to the plant control system.

This guide compares Tenber PH-303, PH-302 and PHS-3301. It focuses on documented outputs, communication, relay functions, recording and panel format. For an industrial pH controller for wastewater project, final suitability still depends on the liquid and the complete measuring loop.
Industrial pH Controller for Wastewater: Quick Model Selection
PH-303 — two analogue outputs
Choose PH-303 when the project needs two isolated 4–20mA outputs for the documented pH/ORP/temperature arrangement. It is a 96-series controller with a documented pH range of −2 to +16, ORP range of −2000 to +2000 mV and temperature range of −10 to +130°C. RS485 Modbus and relay functions are not listed in the current PH-303 product description, so do not assume them without confirmation.
PH-302 — compact Modbus and relay control
Choose PH-302 when the PLC or DCS needs one isolated 4–20mA output plus RS485 Modbus RTU and two relay control points. The documented communication rates are 9600, 19200 and 38400 baud. PH-302 is a 96-series controller with a pH range of −2 to +16, an ORP range of −2000 to +2000 mV and a temperature range of −10 to +130°C.
PHS-3301 — dual outputs, broader control and records
Choose PHS-3301 when the project needs two isolated 4–20mA outputs, RS485 Modbus RTU, two measurement relays, one multifunction relay and documented data logging of 500,000 records. It is a 144-series controller. The documented temperature range is −10 to +150°C. The panel opening is 141 × 141 mm, so check the enclosure before replacing a 96-series instrument.
Industrial pH Controller for Wastewater: What to Confirm
1. Liquid and process conditions
List the liquid composition, expected pH or ORP range, temperature, pressure, suspended solids, oil, fluoride, heavy metals and other deposits. These conditions affect the pH sensor, reference junction, cleaning method and calibration plan.
2. Measurement point
A balancing tank, reaction tank, final discharge line and chemical-injection point can show different values. Place the pH probe where the sample represents the process after mixing and where an engineer can safely inspect and clean it.
3. Control-system interface
Write the point list before ordering. Confirm the number of 4–20mA channels, the required RS485 Modbus registers, relay actions, alarm behavior and dosing interlocks. A relay used for an alarm is not automatically suitable for chemical dosing.
4. Temperature and installation
The documented controllers use Pt1000 or NTC10K temperature compensation options. Match the selected probe and terminal assignment to the controller setting. Confirm immersion, bypass, flow-cell, insertion or pipeline mounting, cable length and maintenance access.
PH-302 vs PH-303 vs PHS-3301: the practical difference
The main difference is integration, not the pH number shown on the screen:
- PH-303: two isolated 4–20mA outputs; 96-series panel format; suitable when the analogue point list is the main requirement.
- PH-302: one isolated 4–20mA output, RS485 Modbus RTU and two relays; suitable when a compact panel also needs digital communication and local control points.
- PHS-3301: two isolated 4–20mA outputs, RS485 Modbus RTU, three documented relay functions and 500,000-record logging; suitable when the 144-series format and broader control functions fit the project.
Do not transfer a PH-302 point list to PH-303, or assume that every pH controller has the same relay, Modbus or recording functions. Confirm the exact supplied configuration before wiring.
Select the pH sensor and pH probe as one measuring loop
The controller does not determine chemical compatibility. A pH sensor that works in a clean water sample may need a different construction or cleaning plan in wastewater with coating, solids or aggressive chemical exposure. For ORP, state the oxidising or reducing chemicals and the purpose of the measurement. ORP indicates the oxidation-reduction condition; it is not a direct concentration measurement for a specific chemical.
For continuous monitoring, send the liquid composition, range, temperature, pressure, mounting, cable length, electrode connection and temperature-probe requirement. Tenber can then review the controller, pH probe and installation as one configuration.
Common Industrial pH Controller for Wastewater Mistakes
- Choosing by range alone: the same −2 to +16 pH range can face very different fouling and temperature conditions.
- Assuming every model has Modbus: RS485 Modbus RTU is documented for PH-302 and PHS-3301, not as a general family promise.
- Installing beside chemical dosing: a local concentration peak may not represent the mixed process.
- Enabling dosing before testing: verify the pH measurement, 4–20mA scaling, Modbus value, relay logic and error behavior first.
What to include in a quotation request
For an industrial pH controller for wastewater quotation, send the measurement parameter, liquid composition, expected range, temperature, pressure, installation method, cable length, required 4–20mA channels, RS485 Modbus requirement, relay or chemical-dosing logic, panel cutout, quantity and destination country. This information helps prevent a mismatch between an industrial pH controller for wastewater and the selected pH probe.
Request a model review
Share the process conditions before choosing a model number. Tenber can review the industrial pH controller for wastewater, pH sensor, pH probe, temperature input, mounting and signal requirements together.

FAQ
Which model is suitable when the PLC only accepts 4–20mA?
Compare the required number of isolated channels. PH-303 and PHS-3301 document two isolated 4–20mA outputs; PH-302 documents one. Confirm output mapping before wiring. Use the same process data when you specify an industrial pH controller for wastewater.
Which model supports a pH controller with RS485 Modbus?
PH-302 and PHS-3301 document RS485 Modbus RTU. Confirm the required registers, baud rate and PLC/DCS test plan before ordering. For protocol reference, consult the Modbus Organization specifications and confirm the supplied device register map.
Can I select the controller before the pH probe?
You can shortlist the controller, but the final selection should include the pH probe, temperature input, mounting, cable and process chemistry. The complete measuring loop determines suitability.
